When Shinichi Haraki started Iron Heart in 2003, he had motorcyclists in mind. That is to say, he knew that he wanted to design pieces that would guarantee longevity and accommodate a rugged lifestyle. Enter: the Iron Heart 666-21 (or, ‘the devil’s fit’). This 21oz slim-straight jean is a staple from the brand, and for good reason. Fit: The Iron Heart 666-21 is a true slim-straight jean. The silhouette in the thigh is snug, and from the knee down, the jean does not taper. In under a year, lifelong friends Jeffrey Lee, Robin Chan and Jade Lam wove their denim dreams into a reality by forming the up-and-coming denim workshop, Doublewood Denim. They have teamed up with Vancouver think tank International Design Collective on a limited batch of raw selvedge denim.

The birthplace of blue jeans, the main hub for the American poetic avant-garde in the 1940s, and currently the haven for tech savants and creative agencies - San Francisco. We chatted with Jeffrey Lee of Doublewood Denim to find out more about the city that inspires all these artistic and intellectual leaps.
