Austin Psych Fest Invades Vancouver
A touch of southern hospitality and a heavy dose of psych rock makes their way up to Canada this weekend. The brains behind the legendary Austin Psych Fest and Vancouver’s very own Timbre Concerts have teamed up to bring the Texas-grown music gathering up North. Known for its incredible lineup of veteran experimental bands and up-and-coming genius acts, the iconic festival has spread its reach beyond the Lone Star state, bringing the fun over to France and Chicago in recent years; the Levitation Vancouver edition will be the first in Canada.
Over three days, over 50 artists will perform either at the Malkin Bowl, Stanley Park’s outdoor amphitheater or various locations on Main Street. Headlining bands include local legends Black Mountain who are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their debut album. They are joined by friends and contemporaries including The Black Angels, Witch, Beach Fossils, King Tuff and many more.
Levitation’s strong community vibe extends past the stage area. The Eastside Flea will be hosting an eclectic vendor marketplace surrounding the festival grounds featuring over 20 local and international artists, clothing designers, jewelry makers, record store pop-up shops and chill-out tents. There will also be food trucks, multiple beer gardens, water stations and a special merch area ran by The Reverberation Appreciation Society.
Enjoy hopping around the events on two wheels – courtesy of The Standard Bike, free bike valet services are available for guests. It’s a great weekend for guests to get in some of the city’s best food and shopping as well – friends of the festival are offering discounts throughout the city. At dutil., we are offering 20% off all regular priced merchandise so be sure to stop by as you ride from Stanley Park to Main Street. Weekend and single-day passes are still available through Levitation-Vancouver.
