Women’s Spring Fashion 2014

It may not feel like it yet, but spring is upon us – at least in the fashion world. February marks the beginning of an influx of spring styles in shops, and fashion-minded individuals are beginning to create mental look books and wish lists for the coming season. This year, you will find Spring 2014’s biggest denim trends manifest themselves in bruised and battered pieces with heavy abrasions, light washes, rips and tears.

Calling back to the 1990’s is the “boyfriend jean” revival – this time, the best reinterpretations are loose, washed and distressed jeans that taper below the knee for an updated, modern look that feels more in place in 2014 than the 501s of the past. The updated jean can still be rocked with chunky boots or platform sneakers to keep the look authentic without looking like you have fallen victim to some form of sorcerous time travel.

Another 90s revival trend – the crop top, is showing no signs of slowing down. In order to rock this short top without feeling too exhibitionistic, you will need a great pair of super high rise denim in your spring wardrobe. What makes a high rise jean so versatile is the ability to wear a shorter shirt if you’re in the mood, but a longer shirt worn overtop of the jean can disguise the mile high rise and make the jean a great tummy taming every day piece for any woman.
