All Black Everything: Pure Blue Japan’s NC-011 Black Tapered at dutil.

There is a new Pure Blue Japan fit and wash in the store! The new addition is a raw, slim, tapered style that boasts both a black weave and weft. It has not been overdyed in black, just woven with all black everything. This means it will resist fading and will remain a true black-black. In addition, the dye used in the weave and weft fibres is Indanthrene – a water-insoluable dye that stands up to washing, wearing, sun, and almost anything else that is known to fade denim. The jean is not shrink-to-fit, so go ahead and buy them a bit snug. Pick them up today for $388.00 CAD (photos by Spirit)

There’s no King of Pop Convention this Sunday (just dutil shoppers)

This Sunday, don’t be shocked by the line-up of shoppers dressed up like the King of Pop on West Cordova street. It’s dutil hosting a Michael Jackson look-a-like contest. Feel free to join in; anyone who enters this Gastown denim shop dressed up like the late pop icon, will have a chance to win a free pair of jeans courtesy of dutil. The contestants will certainly stand out on the biggest shopping day in Canada. To differentiate ourselves from the mass of hyper trendy stores in the Gastown area, dutil does a different contest theme every year, creating an interactive Boxing Day event for our customers. Crazy contests on Boxing Day have become somewhat of a tradition at dutil. Last year, we gave away free pairs of jeans to people who cut their hair off for the Locks of Love charity. The year before, we ran a contest for the person who brought in the smallest wrapped Christmas presents. All Michael Jackson look-a-like contestants must be at dutil prior to 10am on December 26, 2010 to qualify. Impersonations are welcome, but singing not required (or is it?).

dutil. Women’s Quintessential Skinny Arrives With a Sleek New Look

Not since the 90’s has the black jean been so popular; today it certainly has become a basic wardrobe constitution. To keep up with the new-found demand for the perfect fitting black jean, dutil. introduces the Women’s Quintessential Skinny fit (released earlier this year in indigo) in a chic, black, waxed version. The newest addition to our family starts out as an indigo coloured jean that we overdye in black. The now black jean is then coated in an even layer of ebony-hued wax, and baked to perfection to set the wax. The result is a beautifully fitting pair of black jeans with luminous finish that changes continuously with wear. If unwashed for the duration of their lifespan, the waxed jean will become shinier in the creases (at your hip and knee) and more matte elsewhere. We are very proud of our new babies and want to introduce them to you, so don’t forget to ask about them next time you’re in the shop.

Momotaro X Naked & Famous Available at dutil.

We’re all about winning combinations and the new Momotaro X Naked & Famous Denim collaboration is a definite winner. Momotaro X Naked & Famous is in the Skinny Guy fit, made of 14.5oz denim, and built to last. What’s more impressive are the details that show off how true-to-the-collab Momotaro and Naked & Famous are; the rivets and buttons are emblazoned with Momotaro insignia, the inseam is Momotaro’s signature pink (peach), the back patch is deerskin and boasts both the Naked & Famous and Momotaro emblems, and most exciting is that Japan’s rising sun and Canada’s maple leaf are printed on the front pocket bags (inside the jean). They are such a hot item that we can honestly say, “come check them out before it’s too late”. Seriously.
